Exercise Ball Chair Reviews

Exercise Balls are otherwise known as Stability Balls. Toy balls are usually inflated rubber while exercise balls are made of vinyl, a material that is durable because it’s burst-resistant. It was shortly after their invention that these stability balls were used in the field of science. They were first used to help in the treatment of children with cerebral palsy. Later it was recommended by doctors and specialists to people who have neurological and orthopedic illnesses. Even physical therapists use stability balls in rehab programs for their patients. Fitness applications came briefly, that’s why you will sometimes hear them called “exercise balls”. Today gym trainers, athletic coaches and personal trainers use exercise balls in their fitness programs and routines.

So why are these exercise balls popular? It’s because they can be used in many activities. Unlike other fitness equipment and machines, exercise balls are affordable. Others use these balls because of tight schedules hindering exercises and workouts. The idea of putting these into a cradle to make it a chair has been created from the constraints of lack of time and the inconvenience of visiting the gym often. So why not exercise while watching television or doing your paper works at your desk?

Focusing on “core strength” has been a trend in the health and fitness field. The core muscles are the ones located in your abs and back, which should support your spine to keep your body stable and balanced. So how does this exercise ball chair work? It causes you to struggle to balance and hold your body in an upright and safe position. This causes several muscles to contract.

Several fitness equipment manufacturing companies and even furniture brands have released their own exercise ball chairs. How do you select the best one for you? Here are some of the guidelines in buying the right equipment so you can maximize its benefits.

First is, your height should indicate the size of the ball you are going to have. The usual sizes of these are: 45cm, 55cm, and 65cm. If you are 5’ or shorter, a 45cm ball is recommended. If you are between 5’1 to 5’8”, use the 55cm ball. The biggest size which is 65cm is best for people are between 5’9” to 6’2” tall.

Second, if it has wheels and they are lockable. Just like the standard swivel chairs, it will be helpful if the chair has wheels. This makes it convenient to use. The lock should be made available so when you use your chair for some exercises they remain stable.

Third, if a pump is included. This feature is helpful if it’s your first time buying one. At least then you don’t have to look for a pump to inflate your ball.

Fourth, it should come with instructional materials. To be practical, this is really needed. Even though you have an idea of how to assemble or use a ball chair, it is still recommended that you read the instructions for camping gear. This should help avoid future accidents due to misplaced or loose screws. Also, this will save you from injuries or illnesses that might result from improper use of the product. It’s a bonus if the product comes with printed material or video guides of some exercise routines that can be done with it.
